So Much Room for Activities

The large, castle-like building has plenty of room for all kinds of activities. With two floors, kids can interact with many different exhibits. On the first floor, kids can pretend they’re in a real mechanic’s garage working on cars at the Super Service Center. Then, enjoy splashy water fun at the water table. There, children can build a maze, race boats, or discover new things about how boats work.

Even More on the Second Floor

Decatur’s Children’s Museum is special and has an entire second floor of extra fun to explore. There are several stations in the Healthy Habits exhibit. These areas teach children in fun ways about how to take care of their bodies. Finally, kids will love arriving at the Construction Area. There, giant blocks await creative minds. In addition, kids can play, climb, and explore the durable area.

Summer Camp Options

At the Children’s Museum of Illinois, there’s no such thing as too much fun. Kids can come to the museum during the summer for fun STEAM activities. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Younger kiddos in kindergarten and first grade can enjoy summer camp on Thursdays. In addition, older kids in second through fourth grades can explore STEAM on Fridays. Both programs last for eight weeks, but kids don’t have to attend the entire time. In fact, kids can drop in just for the activities they like. Finally, make sure you help the kids dress for a messy time. And don’t worry — they’ll get snacks too. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is $25 per day or $20 for members.
